(Medici Murder)
The Shire of Phoenix Glade Presents:
Daggers and Hemlock II (Medici Murder)
30 August, 2008
Northwest Florida Fair Grounds, Fort Walton Beach, FL.
Medici Murder: Assassination is a way of life!
Dateline: Florence, Italy, mid to late 15th Century. Life is cheap…death is explicit…and the powerful Medici banking family attracts its full share. A double murder attempt, half successful, in a packed cathedral on Easter Sunday results in mutilation by the crowd and hanging of several assassins. An attempted poisoning via rectum of an obese Pope results in Cardinals being killed in their cells or dragged through the streets by horses while being flayed by red-hot pokers. Both a wife and a mistress? All well and good until the wife takes a lover in revenge, only to be garroted at a dinner party during a husbandly kiss, who married his mistress the next day. Burning at the stake? A very publicly attended form of moral edu-tainment. Barbecue anyone? See the executioner for the choicest pieces of monk. And we haven't even mentioned the Borgias yet…
Join The Shire of Phoenix Glade in celebrating the dark and ancient art of assassination. There will be activities for both fighter and artisan alike, as well as games of skill, cunning and deceit for guests of all ages. Feast is limited and reservations are much appreciated. Troll opens at 6:00 p.m. Friday and site closes at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. Merchants and those with A&S displays can contact the autocrat to arrange for Friday evening setup. (Please note that this event is no longer the 30 Year Event.)
The NW Florida Fairgrounds is an indoor site with air conditioned rooms large enough to accommodate all the fighting. Crash space is available to the first 50 guests. Pavilions not requiring stakes are allowed for additional privacy, if desired. There are plenty of indoor toilet facilities; however, the showers are beach type and outdoors.
